CMU MISM Mission Statement:
The mission of the Master of Information Systems Management program is to prepare the next generation of technology managers to lead enterprises in innovative ways. Schooled in the inter-disciplinary Carnegie Mellon tradition and trained as analytical problem solvers, our graduates will develop and deploy IT to create value for their organizations and society.
Students in the MISM program should be able to:
Combine business, strategy, and technical skills that can be directly applied in complex business situations; and
Function effectively in diverse groups and operate in an increasingly connected world.
We achieve this mission through:
fine-tuning our curriculum and our student selection to optimize our role of being a bridge between technology and management;
providing curricular and meta curricular opportunities to apply IT/business leaderships skills in projects, clubs, discussions, and competitions;
engaging with organizations globally as an important element of education and research;
building and sustaining a culture that prizes entrepreneurship and innovation in information technology and its management and application.

With the Internet pervading all aspects of business, the eBusiness Technology program of study prepares students to play a variety of mission critical roles in leveraging the power of technology across the enterprise. Whether in an entrepreneurial start-up or enabling eBusiness technology within an existing company, students are prepared to provide technical leadership and an informed strategic vision.
Carnegie Mellon has transformed the eBusiness technology program into a story-centered curriculum. Instead of separate courses, the entire program consists of an integrated series of projects designed to help you acquire and practice the essential skills and knowledge that you will use upon graduation in the real world. Working with your fellow students in high-performance teams you learn by doing, putting new skills and knowledge into practice immediately. Expert program faculty are always available to provide advice, guidance, feedback, and one-on-one coaching.
