Below is a briefing of our application process that you might find helpful and may be able to answer your questions. We do not answer specific individual qualification questions.
At the University of Rochester we look for "well rounded and uniquely good" applicants. We pay very high attention to all elements of the application and look for extended research experience. Applications will be accepted for the Fall 2015 beginning on September 1, 2014. We do not offer Spring admission.
Please visit the link below for information regarding the Graduate Program in Electrical and Computer Engineering. At this time, full-time PhD students receive a 100% tuition waiver plus a stipend. Full-time MS students receive a 20% tuition waiver. You may apply to the PhD program with a BS degree.
An application fee of $60 is required to apply to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Rochester.
Completed application including all supporting materials must be submitted by January 15th, 2015

- Three letters of recommendation (uploaded online)
- Official transcripts (uploaded online)
- Official copies of test (TOEFL or IELTS) results (post or from ETS) – see below*
- GRE Score Reporting – see below**
*If a BS/BA or MS is from a university in the USA, this TOEFL/IELTS requirement is waived.
**Reporting the results of the GRE is optional in the ECE department, but highly recommended. If you choose to report these results, we must receive a score report from ETS for score verification.
Transcripts that have been uploaded to the application database DO NOT need to be mailed.
