Additional Language Interview:
For applicants from China and Taiwan who must take the TOEFL or IELTS, and who have total scores below 99 on the TOEFL or 7.0 on the IELTS, while eligible for admission consideration, scores below these totals show some weaknesses in English usage. To further demonstrate your English skill, the INI is providing the option to participate in a face-to-face interview in China or Taiwan. The interview is called the CIEE Applicant Interview (CAI) and is administered by CIEE: Council on International Education Exchange. The CAI will provide you with an opportunity to display your communication, organization, and critical thinking abilities, as well as your enthusiasm for becoming a successful student at Carnegie Mellon University. A report and video of your completed interview will be sent directly to the INI and become part of your application and will assist in assessing your English skills. The interview requires payment of a fee to CIEE.
To register for the interview use the following link, http://www.ciee.org/cai/admissions/. After filling in and submitting the online form, a CIEE representative will contact you to arrange a time and location for your interview.
If you have questions about the CAI or wish to register on-line, in China please call: 021-6427-6285; in Taiwan please call: 02-23640228.
