[size=18.0180187225342px]I am part of the Neural Engineering efforts, and among other projects have been working toward developing computational mechanical models of brain tissue. One approach is to map models of mechanics directly to anatomic geometries derived from 3D Electron microscopy stacks.
[size=18.0180187225342px]Critical questions involve simple stress/strain at the micro scale, transport of fluid and ions, sources of mechanical damage, and the electromagnetics in the micro-scale. For each of these there are multi-scale questions - how the micro scale maps to the macro scale, how they map to things we measure, and a host of questions relevant to the actual biology and science of brain function.
