A few faculty, staff, and current students are members of this group.  Please use the group to ask questions you may have as you prepare to begin your studies at TAMU. Feel free to post any questions or concerns, and we will respond as quickly as possible.  The creation of outside groups by newly admitted students has caused confusion in the past as information communicated in such groups is not always accurate.  We’ve established this Facebook page to help you communicate with one another and with us.  The group is an excellent resource through which you will receive accurate programmatic information.  Please utilize it!

Below, you will find additional information that will be useful as you plan to begin your studies in the MS-MIS program at Texas A&M. PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION CAREFULLY!  We recommend that you save this message for future reference.

Your offer letter (accessed through ApplyYourself) contains your personal UIN (Universal Identification Number).  This number will be necessary for navigating all Texas A&M University systems (e.g. Howdy).  To begin, you’ll need to use your UIN to create/activate a Net ID. Please select your Net ID carefully, as this will follow you throughout your time at Texas A&M.  It will also be used in your official TAMU e-mail address.  Ideally, your Net ID should contain some form of your name, rather than an unrelated combination of letters and numbers.

An enrollment form has been provided within your ApplyYourself account. Please complete and submit this enrollment form by April 15, 2015 to make us aware of your intentions. Please note that the offer of admission will rescind if the enrollment form isn’t completed by this date.

The deadline for all admissions deposits is April 15, 2015.  If a student indicates the intent to enroll in his/her enrollment form, but fails to pay the admissions deposit by the abovementioned deadline, the admissions offer will rescind.

Admissions deposits can be paid using one of two methods:  1) check or money order sent via surface mail; or 2) funds wired directly to Texas A&M University.

Please refer to the e-mail text above to view any prerequisites that you haven’t yet completed. In order to begin the program in August 2015, you will need to complete the outstanding prerequisite courses during Summer II at Texas A&M University.  Summer II will run July 7 – August 12, 2015.  Please note that your admit term will need to be changed from “Fall 2015” to “Summer 2015” in order for us to register you for summer classes. Also, international students will need to obtain their I-20s much earlier for a summer start date. The deadline for submitting the financial documentation required for the issuance of I-20s for a Summer II start date is April 15, 2015.  Thus, it will take some advance preparation to complete any prerequisites at TAMU.

The MS-MIS program at Texas A&M University offers financial assistance in the form of Graduate Assistantships and academic scholarships. All individuals admitted to the program are considered for these competitive awards, and an individual’s application for admission also serves as his/her application for financial assistance.  Individual faculty do not have separate funds for graduate assistants.  Please do not contact individual faculty in the department to solicit graduate assistant positions..鏈枃鍘熷垱鑷1point3acres璁哄潧

Graduate Assistants in the MS-MIS program are assigned to faculty members within the Information and Operations Management Department and provide assistance with courses. The position pays a monthly salary of $725 and requires 20 hours of work per week. Non-resident students who serve as Graduate Assistants will receive a non-resident tuition waiver and will be assessed the resident tuition rate, which is significantly lower.

Academic scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 or more and are divided into two equal payments for the first two semesters of study. Non-resident students who are awarded these scholarships will also receive the non-resident tuition waiver and will be assessed the resident tuition rate for the two semesters in which the scholarship is funded.

We will announce all financial aid awards by mid-March 2015 and recipients will be notified via e-mail. This will provide students with ample time to make their enrollment decisions before the April 15 deadline.  International Student Services will be notified by the Department of any international student who receives financial aid.

Texas A&M University’s Office of International Student Services (ISS) handles all immigration issues for the University. Please be aware that the INFO Department does not issue I-20s and cannot answer any questions regarding a student’s immigration status. Any questions regarding immigration issues should be addressed to ISS. Contact information can be found on the ISS website: 鏉ユ簮涓浜.涓夊垎鍦拌鍧.

International students should note the following in regard to I-20s issued by Texas A&M University:. 鐗涗汉浜戦泦,涓浜╀笁鍒嗗湴

    1.       The major for all MS-MIS students will be designated as “Information Science/Studies” on the . From 1point 3acres bbs
I-20. This is due to our CIP code which gives the program a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) designation. This designation by the federal government affords graduates of the program an extension of their OPT for up to a total of 29 months.

    2.       The duration of study listed on the I-20 is 36 months, regardless of the actual length of the program. The MS-MIS program is designed to be completed in 18-24 months; however, TAMU lists 36 months as the duration of study for all MS programs. This cannot be changed.

You may begin the process of obtaining an I-20 by visiting  Note:  Mays Business School students will NOT have access to the AIS system.  Thus, financial documents should be e-mailed directly to Amanda Brinlee (  To ensure proper and timely processing, please use the following as the subject of your e-mail:

ISS has provided a table of estimated expenses.  The first row labeled “masters program 9 credit hours” is applicable to our program. Thus the amount needed for the I-20 is $34,090.. Waral 鍗氬鏈夋洿澶氭枃绔,

It is not necessary to wait for the announcement of financial aid awards before starting the I-20 process.  After awards are announced, ISS will be notified of the students receiving financial aid and they will adjust the I-20s for those students accordingly.  Please note that changes made after the I-20 process has begun will necessitate the issuance of a new/revised I-20.

From 1point 3acres bbs

*a tuition increase of 1.93% over the 2014-2015 rates for the upcoming academic year

Students who enroll this summer to complete prerequisites will be assessed the Summer 2014 rates that are already available on the Student Business Services site referenced above.  For a detailed list of all applicable fees, please see ... schedule/#GEN_INFO.

Note:  The Mays Master’s Program fee is listed as $1,700 for each fall and spring and $200 for each five-week summer session.  A proposal sent forth by Mays Business School to the TAMU Board of Regents seeks to increase the fall and spring rates to $2,000/semester.  This increase is pending at this time, but we predict it will be approved and will go into effect in Fall 2015.  The summer rate will remain $200.
