You selected MS/PHD on your application.
MS/PHD means you are working on the MS degree, but if you want to stay on
for the PHD after graduation, and you have performed well and have found a
research advisor, then you could remain for the PHD without any new
MS degree is 32 credits without a THESIS or 24 credits with a THESIS. PHD
is 28 credits with a DISSERTATION.
A student who chooses wisely can complete the 28 PHD credits as part of
the MS degree -- meaning there is no additional coursework required after
the MS degree is complete.
PHD only admission means you cannot get a MS degree, even if you complete
the coursework for that degree. 15 of the current 25 students working on a
MS degree are in the MS/PHD program. 10 are MS only.
