the assumption is female eng have same quality, thus deserve same offer
i am sorry to say, unfortunately, many female eng are just not as strong as male eng....(I am female too....)
even with lowered bar they are still not good enough

but there are also many girls who just dont work as hard...... and expect special treatment
the bigger problem is, for females, you will be passed for higher level positions
but are favored in the entry level positions to make up for the balance
so at a glance it seems the ratio is improving.
when you are up for a lead/manager/director position, that's when it really is time to experience inequality...
