Some parent offer their school-age children money for each high grade (mark) they get in school Do you think this is a good idea?

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

The children are now under greater pressure than before due to the fierce academic competition. Most of the parents want their children to achieve higher grades in school. They believe that good grades can undoubtedly lead to a successful life. Therefore, they try their best to encourage their children to study harder. Offering money is one of the ways which parents use. In my opinion, I think it is a good idea for a couple of reasons.

To begin with, people always work harder if the reward is fabulous.Children are the same story. Even fifty cents is a great reward. If the children know they will get bonus when they get high grades in school, they will fight harder to get the reward. It is difficult to make the children understand the importance of study while they are that young. Therefore, we need some simple ways to motivate children. Offering money to them is a good case in point.

Secondly, giving children money can let them learn how to use the money properly when they are young. The children will grow up someday, and then they will have to manage their own money. If they have no experience on how to avoid wasting their money, they will need to spend much more useless money than they would do while they were still a child. Take my own experience as an example, I liked playing yoyo when I was 10 years old, but I cannot afford a yoyo on my own. Then my mother told me if I could be the top one in the coming examination, she would give me the money to buy the yoyo. I felt really encouraged and I did a lot of exercises after school only because I wanted to get the money to buy a yoyo.

Some people may argue that these children are too young to manage their money. They probably use the money to buy some toys which might have a negative effect on their study. This is a valid concern. However, buying some toys is a double-blade sword. The children use the money they earned from good academic performance to buy something they really like. They can not only relax themselves but also have more energy to contribute themselves into the study later.

In conclusion, I totally agree with the argument which claims that it is a good idea to offer children some money when they get high grades in school due to all the reasons above.

Children with high performances at school are always considered would having high performances when they grow up. However, to be a complete adult who can be responsible for itself is much more complicated. While parents offering money for high grades to their children sounds like a good method promoting their kids studying hard at school, the impact underneath can be detrimental.

First of all, the responsibility issue. As a matter od fact, kids may not able to realize at the first place that how important studying is to their future. But by offering money for their high grades, they may regard "study hard" as a deal, they may generate the attitude "I study hard for my parents", the longer parents' offering maintain, the deeper the irresponsible attitude was planted. In contrast, those children who does not recieve money for getting high grades, they will realize the significance of studying gradually. Once the offering stop, children will lose a big part of courage to continue studying hard. It is of vital importance that, children realize, "studying hard" and "getting high mark" are not for others, it is for themselves (if their interests are not in studying, they also have the right to choose).

Also, this action will mislead children in working and earning. Basicly in this society, if someone needs to earn its life, it needs provide service/things for the others. Children getting money by get good grades instead of houseworking/helping neighborhoods, tend to be more self-centered.

Futhermore, most of children do not know how to use their money properly, usually children use pocket money to buy snacks, unhealthy food, and eating too much junk food cause many health problem, like fatness. Smart kids owning money and can not manage it well can cause them generate bad consume habit.

In conclusion, offering children money for high grades can be detrimental both mentally and phisically. Parents need to generate proper view that their duty is to provide children more alternetives to choose in their lives, not to push them too hard.
