In this course, you will learn about software defined networking and how it is changing the way communications networks are managed, maintained, and secured.
About the Course
This course introduces software defined networking, an emerging paradigm in computer networking that allows a logically centralized software program to control the behavior of an entire network.
Separating a network's control logic from the underlying physical routers and switches that forward traffic allows network operators to write high-level control programs that specify the behavior of an entire network, in contrast to conventional networks, whereby network operators must codify functionality in terms of low-level device configuration.
Logically centralized network control makes it possible for operators to specify more complex tasks that involve integrating many disjoint network functions (e.g., security, resource control, prioritization) into a single control framework, allowing network operators to create more SOP
histicated policies, and making network configurations easier to configure, manage, troubleshoot, and debug.
Students should have taken at least an undergraduate-level networking course and have programming experience in Python. Experience with virtual machines and other virtual networking environments may also be useful.

Obtaining a Certificate
General Certificate of CompletionA general certificate of completion will be awarded if you have completed all the quizzes with a minimum grade of 70% on each quiz. Certificates can only be released after the official end date of the course session. Instructor will post an announcement when the certificates are released.
Distinction Certificate of Completion
For a certificate of accomplishment with a distinction, you must meet the following criteria by the last day of the course:
- Complete all programming assignments with a "pass" grade on each.
- AND All Quizzes completed with a minimum grade of 70% on each quiz.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Instructor will make an announcement when the certificates are released. Please note that neither of these certificates are official credit bearing certificates.
有小伙伴们一起上这课不？SDN是个挺新的概念，这是第二轮开课，授课的教授也相应更新了许多最新内容和增加了对一些SDN大牛的访谈。证书分为两种，如果不想做编程作业，完成其它的quizz能拿到certification of completion,如果把编程作业也都完成了，可以拿到certification of distiction。
