Build the AI Operating System for Audit
Whaisper AI is building an AI-native operating system for audit.
Our mission is to transform how audits are planned, executed, documented, and reviewed. By combining AI agents with deep audit-domain knowledge, we aim to automate repetitive procedures, improve audit quality, and enable professionals to focus on judgment-intensive work.
We already have an established customer base, access to real audit workflows, and immediate demand for automation. With a growing customer pipeline, Whaisper AI is targeting approximately 10x revenue growth over the next three months.
Our founding team brings experience from Apple Siri and Apple Intelligence, Microsoft AI, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Deloitte, and UC Berkeley. Whaisper AI is also backed by a leading startup incubator.
We are now assembling our earliest engineering team to turn this foundation into a scalable vertical AI platform for the global audit industry.
Why This Role Is Different
This is not a conventional internship with predetermined support tasks. You will work directly with the founders to identify high-value customer problems, make product and technical decisions, build production systems, and see your work used in real audit engagements.
Depending on your strengths, you may own an entire AI workflow or product area—from customer discovery and technical design through deployment and iteration.
We are looking for someone who wants to experience what it is actually like to build a company, not simply add another internship to a résumé.
What You Will Build
AI agents that execute multi-step audit and assurance workflows
Systems for financial document understanding, data extraction, reconciliation, anomaly detection, and audit evidence analysis
RAG pipelines, domain knowledge systems, tool integrations, and human-in-the-loop review mechanisms
LLM evaluation and observability infrastructure for accuracy-sensitive audit applications
Customer-facing SaaS features used by auditors and CPA firms
Secure integrations with audit tools, financial systems, and document repositories
Rapid prototypes that can be validated, improved, and deployed within weeks
You will also work directly with auditors and customers to translate complex audit procedures into simple, scalable products.
Required Qualifications
Pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
Strong computer science fundamentals and hands-on software engineering ability
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, or C++
Experience building functional software beyond coursework, such as a web application, developer tool, AI project, open-source contribution, or independently launched product
Familiarity with APIs, databases, and modern software development practices
Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and turn ambiguous problems into working solutions
Strong ownership, communication, and collaboration skills
Availability to work and communicate with the team during agreed-upon Pacific Time hours
Genuine interest in entrepreneurship, vertical AI, and building products from zero
We do not require a specific programming language. We care more about engineering fundamentals, learning speed, product judgment, and the ability to ship reliable software.
Preferred Qualifications
The following are valuable but not required.
AI and Agent Development
Experience building AI agents, agentic workflows, RAG systems, or production LLM applications
Familiarity with tool use, function calling, LLM evaluation, prompt engineering, OCR, or document intelligence
Experience integrating LLM capabilities into customer-facing products rather than standalone demos
Full-Stack SaaS Engineering
Experience shipping end-to-end features across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure
Familiarity with frameworks such as React, Next.js, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, Python, FastAPI, Node.js, or similar technologies
Experience with authentication, authorization, multi-tenant architecture, billing, API design, observability, or cloud deployment
Understanding of enterprise security, data privacy, and reliable system design
Domain and Product Experience
Knowledge of audit, accounting, financial reporting, assurance, or financial services
Experience working with sensitive financial data, regulated industries, or enterprise customers
Strong product sense and experience translating user problems into practical product solutions
Experience interviewing users, validating product ideas, or iterating based on customer feedback
Evidence of High Agency
Previous internship experience at a leading technology company, financial institution, professional services firm, or high-growth startup
Experience founding or joining an early-stage startup
Launched an independent product, contributed meaningfully to open source, or built software that people actively use
Participation in AI hackathons, research projects, or technical competitions
Who Will Thrive Here
Learn unfamiliar domains quickly
Care about customer outcomes, not just technical elegance
Can make progress without a detailed specification
Treat the product as something you own
Are energized by speed, responsibility, and ambiguity
Want to become an early startup engineer—or start your own company one day
This role may not be the right fit if you need highly structured assignments, fixed requirements, or a narrowly defined scope.
Founding Engineer Path
High-performing interns are highly likely to receive a full-time offer.
Those who demonstrate exceptional technical ability, product judgment, ownership, and long-term commitment may have the opportunity to grow into a Founding Engineer or early core team role.
Candidates who transition to qualifying full-time positions may receive:
Early-stage equity options, subject to the company’s equity plan, vesting terms, and required approvals
H-1B sponsorship based on performance, eligibility, company needs, and applicable immigration requirements
Employment-based green card sponsorship based on long-term performance, eligibility, and company needs
Significant ownership over a product area
Meaningful influence on Whaisper AI’s technical direction, engineering culture, and future team

Full-time conversion, immigration sponsorship, and equity awards remain subject to individual eligibility, performance, company needs, applicable laws, and required approvals.
