绿卡要随身携带吗

你只要是从身上拿出来的那就是随身带，怎么可能被海关要求放钱包里，说笑话呢

和你卡一起寄来的信上面写的清清楚楚，没注意看的话也没什么别的机会看到这种规定了。

法律原文是 INA 264 （既 USC 1304）：

(d) Certificate of alien registration or alien receipt card
Every alien in the United States who has been registered and fingerprinted under the provisions of the Alien Registration Act, 1940, or under the provisions of this chapter shall be issued a certificate of alien registration or an alien registration receipt card in such form and manner and at such time as shall be prescribed under regulations issued by the Attorney General.
(e) Personal possession of registration or receipt card; penalties
Every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him pursuant to subsection (d). Any alien who fails to comply with the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction for each offense be fined not to exceed $100 or be imprisoned not more than thirty days, or both.

所以大家说的是对的，确实得随身携带，甚至其实学生都要随身携带 i-20。不过处罚很轻，法不责众。

需要，在马路上走，每个路口都会有警察检查你的绿卡

理论上，所有能证明合法身份的文件都应该随身携带，比如护照，I-20，I-94（如果没被延期），I-797（如果下面有一个延期的I-94），绿卡。ICE警察（不是地方警察）如果让你出示有效移民文件你出示不了他们是有权抓人的。（不过他们怎么知道某人是不是美国人呢）
实际上美国有好多州和城市是移民庇护的。这些地方非法移民都不能把他们怎么样，更不会管合法移民了。

读书时会随身携带护照和I-20吗?
工作后会随身携带护照和I797吗？

如果你之前都这样带着，那绿卡也随身带着吧。

就好比限速，法律上超速是违法的，但是大家都超，不超速他家还觉得你有问题，被抓的人老老实实开，没被抓的继续冲冲冲。
移民文件按法律要求必须要随身带，但是大家都不带，不带的人觉得那少部分随身带的人有毛病。被抓过的以后都带着，没被抓的继续不带。
被抓到是小概率事件，但是去边境城市千万别忘了，那个被抓不开玩笑，比如美墨边境高速上就有检查站。

那看来不用带了

这个问题是不是可以类比成H1b身份的人是否需要随身携带h1b approval那两张i797？
