A Ph.D. student position with full scholarship is available for Fall 2021 in the lab of Intelligent System and Reliability at Wayne State University. The research direction focuses on data science applied for addictive manufacturing and anonymous vehicles. The full scholarship for the position will include tuition, a stipend for 12 months, and medical insurance.
Students with a background in engineering, applied statistics, and applied math are encouraged to apply.

Prof. Yang's research includes statistical learning, diagnosis, reliability and quality, material failure analysis, and advanced manufacturing. His research has been supported by both national agencies (e.g., National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation, Department of Veteran Affairs, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada) and industrial partners (e.g., United States Council for Automotive Research, Ford Motor Corporation, Chrysler Corporation).
Prof. Yang’s students are the recipients of numerous awards, including Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference Best Student Paper Awards (both 2015 and 2016), INFORMS Conference Best Paper Finalist Award (2017), Wilcoxon Best Paper Award for Technometrics (2020). His former students are working as faculty members, at Wall Street and world-leading auto companies.
