[Snowflake Hiring] Cortex AI Functions | AI Quality / Database Core / AI Infra | Entry-level through Staff

Hi everyone, I’m the hiring manager for the Cortex AI Functions team at Snowflake. We’re hiring engineers across multiple areas, at the Junior / Entry-level, Mid-level, Senior, and Staff levels.

[Team & Products]

We integrate AI into the database so enterprises can process structured and unstructured data together through SQL. Our product areas include AI Functions for multimodal extraction, classification, and semantic aggregation; AI quality evaluation and automatic optimization; and LLM execution, inference, and caching optimizations to balance quality, cost, and performance at scale.

[Open Areas]

1. AI Quality
    Evaluation, error analysis, prompt and model configuration optimization, and algorithms for improving the quality–cost tradeoff.
2. Database Core
    AI-aware query optimization, semantic join rewriting, execution engines, workload scheduling, and performance optimization.
3. AI Infrastructure
    Scalable LLM execution, inference efficiency, caching, and the scalability and reliability of distributed services.

[Team Philosophy]

I strongly believe in vertical optimization: owning a specific product area from customer use cases through AI Quality, Database Core, and AI Infra lets a team learn across disciplines and independently improve the entire stack. As AI expands individual engineering capabilities, I want engineers to develop both depth and breadth, connect quality with systems, and bring product sense grounded in customer needs and product tradeoffs.

[Background Requirements]

• Junior / Entry-level: Strong foundations in computer science or mathematics. No prior specialized experience in these areas is required.
• Senior / Staff: Deep expertise in at least ONE of AI Quality, Database Systems, or AI Infrastructure. Expertise in all three is not required.

You can specialize in one area or contribute to end-to-end projects from algorithm design and system implementation through production deployment.
