A Ph. D. graduate position in Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Massachusetts Lowell(UMass Lowell) is available now. The research areas could be on micro/nanoscalethermal engineering and fluidics, Bio-MEMS (microfluidics), innovativeminiaturized solar/energy system, and integrated MEMS-based sensing systems.The student will have opportunities to work in clean rooms and will be trainedwith various MEMS fabrication technologies, Soft lithography, Nanoimprint Lithography(NIL) technology, and will also work at nano-manufacturing center located at UMassLowell with the training on nanofabrication and characterization (SEM, TEM, AFMetc.) and the education on cutting-edge nanoscience and technology. Candidatewill have opportunity to work with experts from multidisciplinary fields.Candidate with a general thermal/fluid, material science and/or electricengineering background, along with hands-on skills, would be ideal. A background with numerical simulation and micro/nano fabrication will be a plus.

The position will start on September 2012.
