INI学院网申industry experience和professional experience的问题

CMU-INI的网申系统里面在resume&statement这个版块有这么两个必填的问题：
How many years of full-time professional experience do you have?
How many years of relevant industry experience do you have?

一开始感觉professional experience和industry experience都是指的工作经历，所以发了邮件问了小秘，小秘的回复如下：
Industry experience means experience specific to the relevant industry, which since you are applying to a technology program, would be work in the technology industry.

Since the information is about work, then professional refers to work at a professional level.
还是有点没明白。。是不是说industry experience就是到业界的企业去工作的经历，
然后professional experience就是你做的一些项目，research的经历，这个可以是在公司也可以是在学校。
