回想这一路走来,最难的不是体力上的,精力上的,脑力上的,而是心灵上的。
电影American Beauty里,有这么一段话:“That's the day I realized that there was this entire life behind things, and this incredibly benevolent force that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever..It helps me remember... I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world, I feel like I can't take it, and my heart is just going to cave in..”
当时,我最大的痛苦,不是可能实现不了我的梦想,而是我感受不到那样强大的力量——你说是“命运”也好,“因果”也好,上帝的“安排”也好——我感受不到它们了。我不断地质疑:是不是其实生命就是没有“注定”可循的,一切都是随机的,不会真的有神关注你,不会有谁真的在意你。如果你明天消失了,也不过是一枚无足轻重的尘埃。
我觉得,绝境里最恐怖的一段黑暗,就是:你不知道你该相信什么,还能相信什么。
拿到offer却又要被迫失去offer的那段日子里,是我最难过的日子。有一天晚上,我躲在车里放声痛哭,有一个女孩敲我的车窗,我摇下玻璃,她递给我一个蛋糕,说她也经历过我这样的痛苦,她懂我的心情。蛋糕上写着一句话:“It gets better. I promise.”
——这不是我编造的童话,是真实发生在我身上的事情。
苹果公司创始人乔布斯在2005年的斯坦福大学毕业典礼上的演讲,有一段特别打动我的话,是这么说的:
“You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something: your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path.”
他的话打动了我是因为,我一下子明白了,他必定经历过绝境,所以他知道,Believing,是最最重要的一件事,是支撑你走下去的全部力量。
