[color=rgb(51, 51, 51) !important]Specific job responsibilities of this Quality Engineering (QE) position include but not limited to the following:

• Design, develop and lead QE initiatives to support the eBay's Search Science group.  As part of the Search Science Quality team, this individual will be responsible for the oversight and development of broad testing framework / unit, functional as well as integration testing.
• Be able to articulate, evaluate and evangelize testing strategies and apply them in eBay's context as well as come up with metrics for realistic testing effort estimation.
• Work with Product Development, Product Management, Quality Engineering, Load & Performance, and Operations teams to develop innovative testing solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to testing goals and principles.
• Estimate testing effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and help rollout system changes.
• Help define and supervise the testing of complex Search Science software systems and related domains that provide value-add from site quality perspective.
• Identify process, technology challenges and deficiencies that need to be addressed and drive those changes to successful adoption.
• Proactively identify and resolve resource conflicts and set priorities for parallel projects.
• Identify project risks and be able to provide alternatives for reducing risk.
• Be able to interface with large data sets and diverse database environments.
• Be able to work in an agile testing methodology.

• Create test plans and test cases for new assigned features as well as develop test tools for automation/regression testing.
• Work closely with the counterpart Development team and other Quality Engineering teams to ensure standard Quality processes are followed including usage of Test Case management systems.
• Lead the effort and define the platform testing approaches and needs.
• Execute planned testing tasks and provide timely and accurate analysis of test findings.
• Keep project team and management well informed of testing progress.
• Proactively recommend coding solutions, fix bugs and solve problems.
• Create and evaluate product testability requirements, prepare testability matrices.
• Communicate effectively with Product Development, Product Management, Quality Engineering, Load & Performance, and Operations teams located locally and globally.
• Must have flexible work hours to work with offshore Development and Quality teams.
• Must be knowledge of Java/C/C++, SQL, UNIX and scripting language like Perl and Python.
• Must have familiarity with Hadoop, XML, HTML, and Scala.
• Expertise with data mining engineering and massaging large dataset.
• Basic understanding of statistics, hypothesis testing and sampling.
• Knowledge of build system – Maven/Ant.
• Familiarity with IDE.
• Knowledge of functional and advanced language like Haskell and F# is a plus.

• BSEE or CS plus 5 years of relevant experiences required or MS plus 4 years of relevant experiences required.
