Georgia Tech Police report that they have arrested an individual who is believed to be a former graduate student. The suspect allegedly attacked a postdoctoral fellow this afternoon with a sword in the Weber SST building, located at 281 Ferst Drive.
The victim was reportedly injured and was transported to Grady Hospital. During the arrest, a police officer was slightly injured by the attacker.
There is no further threat to campus. The Weber building is closed while the incident is under investigation.

Our immediate concern is for the victims who were transported to Grady Hospital where they are reported to be in stable condition. The victim’s name will be released after relatives are notified.
The alleged assailant, Kshitij Shrotri, is being held in the Fulton County Jail. He has been charged with aggravated assault. Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation. Shrotri received his PhD in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech in 2008 and has not been affiliated with the Institute since then.
