VLSI 都需要看什么书，选哪些课，用什么软件呢？

可能说是aspects比较合适，VLSI太大了。
应该说等你初步学了之后比较容易grasp the idea

第二个选择是去各个院校的faculty profile里的VLSI professor哪里，把所有的研究方向看一遍你就明白了。

是 VLSI Systems and Digital Design这个section吗？我看都是6系列的课？不是graduate的课还有5系列的吗？

我虽然学了VHDL但是其实用的少。因为我走的是circuit的路线，semiconductor、CMOS、各种transistor delay学的比较多

我不知道你说的逻辑前端具体是指什么。VLSI是非常大的，学Circuit的可能不怎么用CAD，有些分支可能从不关心transistor的delay是什么。但是如果你是初入的话，我觉得还是先学了再说。很多东西是学完了才知道的。

感觉作为一个senior student，还没有资格回答VLSI的关键是什么这种问题。就不多话了。

是的，但是如果你完全没基础，可能得上3000和4000系列的课。
. ----只有你自己对自己的知识水平最清楚。

所以多花点时间全部看下也许比较好？

前端一般就是看不到transistor的，偶尔能看到gate，但绝大多数时间都在描述behaviour。
学circuit的人不可能不用cad吧，难道不用spice而手算？

Let's firstly make sure we are talking about the same thing.
CAD can be even referred to a ME software my friend is using, although I have no idea what he is doing with it.

I never heard someone, even professors, called SPICE simulation software such as Cadence or Multisim "CAD". This does not mean they are definitely not CAD. But it is the reason I do not associate CAD with circuits in my mind. A personal habit it is.

When I am saying CAD, I mean some software such as Quartus II by Altera.
If you have more professional views, what about sharing generously  it instead of doubting my credbility

别什么事儿都上纲上线，也别把自己看得太重，没什么人有闲心管你的*credibility

既然你都提到Cadence和NI的Multisim了，我确定咱俩谈的CAD是同一个东西。
Quartus和ISE Design Suite主要针对FPGA开发。Cadence和Synopsys各自都有一整套针对ASIC flow的CAD开发套件，涵盖前端设计/simulation/synthesis/floorplan/place&route/static timing analysisdengd等等。一般学VLSI的人说起CAD首先想到的就是Cadence和Synopsis这俩巨头。

有时间扯什么教授没跟你讲啥的，不如google一下你自己和别人说的名词都是什么东西。Cadence是公司，Multisim才是软件。
