Prof. Lili Cai is looking for highly motivated students who would like to pursue Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Science and Engineering at University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign. Ideal candidates are expected to have strong academic backgrounds in one of the following disciplines: materials science, mechanical engineering, chemistry/chemical engineering, physics, etc. Successful candidates will be fully funded with competitive assistantship. Postdoc and visiting students/scholars are also welcome.

Short bio:
Prof. Lili Cai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign starting in 2019. Her research interest is centered at the intersection of thermal science, nanotechnology and advanced manufacturing, with the goal to develop innovative energy and wearable technologies that can enable a sustainable future and improve the well-being of society. She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University (advised by Prof. Xiaolin Zheng), and her B.S. in Materials Chemistry from University of Science and Technology of China. Her PhD research focused on developing scalable flame synthesis methods to advance the application of nanomaterials in solar water splitting, catalysis and electronics. During 2016-2018, she was a postdoctoral fellow advised by Prof. Yi Cui in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University, working on novel materials with advanced thermal radiation properties for personal thermal management.
