We recognize that you have applied to the Master of Science (MS) degree program; however, we are currently channeling most of
our Master of Science applications into our Master of Engineering (MEng) program which has been designed to better meet the
needs of students seeking both deep technical content and career readiness skills. The MS program remains a limited option for
matriculated students (students who join BU and later consider switching to the Master of Science); however, the MS degree
requires formal thesis or major project work, is very limited in its capacity, and there is no guarantee that students will be
accommodated in this program after matriculation.
You have been selected from a very large pool of outstanding applicants based on academic potential for the Master of Engineering
degree program. Our Master’s program has a rich legacy of serving the goals of students wishing to develop deep technical
qualifications beyond the bachelor’s degree suitable for advanced positions and careers in industry or in further graduate study. The
MEng program does not require a formal thesis or major research project but might engage projects within specific courses. The . 1point 3 acres
program includes career placement advising, and exposure to corporate leaders in technology companies in small groups. More
information about the Master of Engineering can be found at our website: http://www.bu.edu/eng/academics/professional/meng/.
