Quick info on the role:
We make wedding dresses through an online process that offers significantly more customization than stores. We found an overlooked (but huge) market and a way we can offer value to customer through a tech-first strategy (not just brand).
Our secret is that wedding dresses are low variable, so we can read brides' minds and make their "custom" dress in a modular way at our vertically-integrated factories in China. 14% of US brides signed up last year and we get a ton of data, so this is the perfect place to apply machine learning to retail.
Our product priorities center around (1) using data brides give us to visualize her dress, (2) creating "mass customization" processes to modularize the "custom" variables our brides give us into repeatable steps for our factories in China, (3) using data science to improve fit.
Our engineering and product teams includes senior leadership who led teams at multi-billion dollar public companies. . 1point 3 acres
Stack
Server-side, we run on Ruby on Rails 5 hosted on Heroku, with PostgreSQL on Amazon AWS RDS, and serving images from S3 and CloudFront.
Client-side, we serve HTML from ERBs and use JQuery. We optimize for mobile browser support over cell networks.
Internally we built React components on top of Administrate by Thoughtbot.
