Algorithm Engineer
Inventory management&control team (IMC), Supply Chain Platform, Alibaba Group is seeking algorithm engineers to join its team (Beijing/Hangzhou based). IMC owns Alibaba’s global inventory management & control systems. We decide what, when, where and how much we should buy and distribute to meet Alibaba’s business goals and to provide the best experience to our customers. We decide how to distribute the inventories cross Cai Niao logistics network. Our algorithm makes decisions on hundreds of millions of items across industries each day. In IMC, we built an automated inventory management & control system with cutting edge technologies of optimization and simulation. We keep challenging ourselves with the toughest inventory optimization problems, taking the responsibilities for exploring, investigating and solving new business problems, delivering end-to-end integrated solutions. . .и
The ideal candidate is a motivated individual with strong skills in robust optimization/stochastic programming/dynamic programming with applications in network optimization or with strong machine learning/reinforcement learning background include robotics and marketplace dynamical system modeling. He or she will conduct work independently with a strong sense of supply chain management. The qualified candidate will hold an advanced degree in operations research/computer science/or a closely related field, can address both business and engineering problems and deliver solutions at a breakneck pace.
Responsibilities:
Conduct interviews with internal clients to understand the pain points in business and define mathematical problems. .--
Work closely with software developers; analyze business data and build mathematical models to benchmark existing solutions as well as to identify opportunities for improvement.
Design and build robust production systems, generating robust near-optimal plannings.
Be responsible to present results to cross-functional teams with business insights.
Basic qualifications:
Ph.D. in Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field. 1point3acres
2+ years of experience designing predictive modeling and/or optimization solutions/simulation systems for very-large scale applications
Project management experience working with tech and other cross-functional teams ..
Knowledge in the large-scale database and the ability to manipulate data. 1point 3acres
Experience designing and implementing large-scale modeling solutions and experience with leveraging such models to provide guidance for business decision making
