New Zealand's biggest news website, Stuff, has embarked on an experiment to ditch Facebook and Instagram. Stuff was the fifth most visited site in New Zealand behind Google (Google), YouTube, Facebook and TradeMe. In the context of an "international campaign against Facebook," the news organization has issued an unusual challenge to the world's largest social media platform: an experiment that could send ripples around the world by "shutting down all activity on Facebook and its partners' networks." The decision was made for ethical reasons as the growing global controversy over the platform led advertisers to boycott it. Similar moves have been made by a number of large international companies, including Coca-Cola, Unilever, Ford, Adidas and Starbucks. source
