不要慌，Renter insurance就是干这个的，把你的保险信息给大楼（他们其实本来就有），让renter insurance跟homeowner insurance俩公司扯皮去吧
注意任何communication最好都通过文字，可以帮你克服随口说sorry的毛病，写信注意用词，总之就是你没有责任，你没有责任，你没有责任

找保险和律师吧！但是律师也很贵。。。公寓太坑了他们肯定有责任的！

我几年前也遇到过类似的情况，幸好有renter insurance 我甚至完全没有出面 吓得倒是不轻 但过了两个月吧 公寓的owner就打电话跟我说没事了 保险全赔了

有没有当地的local的朋友，老美本土人，问问他们怎么解决的。实在是太同情楼主了。

问题是损失已经超过renter insurance的上限了，这种情况下保险公司的利益和楼主已经不一致了，可能会选择赔满上限了事不再多花成本帮楼主省钱了。

unless you can prove that the fire alarm malfunctioned and released water unnecessarily, you're liable here. The water was released because of your actions and the water leaked to the apartment under you and damage their properties (laptops, furniture, hardwood floors, walls, just like you). In this case, all the damage caused by the water will need to be billed to you because you are the one who triggered the fire alarm/water. You need to talk to your insurance company, tell them exactly what happened and how much they can pay. You should also consider speaking to a lawyer about this, the goal is to minimize the amount you will end up paying so maybe you can dispute the charges to try to lower them (e.g. their hardwood floor doesnt cost that much to replace). I highly discourage you from just escaping here, you may never be able to come back to the states ever again.
