Biography
Huajie Shao (https://shj1987.github.io/) is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at William & Mary. He obtained his PhD degree from University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC) in 2021 and Master from Zhejiang University in 2014. His research interests lie broadly in Data Mining, Explainable AI, Social Networks, and NLP. Huajie has published more than 25 research papers in top-tier international conferences and journals, such as ICML, SIGIR, WWW, VLDB, SenSys, UbiComp, INFOCOM, ICDCS, TOC, TPDS, and TSP. Also, he received some best/student paper awards, including SenSys’20 Best Paper Award, FUSION’19 Student Paper Award, UbiComp’19 Distinguished Paper Award, and ICCPS’17 Best Paper Award. His work published in the Trans. on Signal Processing (TSP) was nominated for the Best Paper in 2020.
Dr. Shao is also working closely with research labs in Big Tech companies, including Amazon Web Services, Alibaba at Seattle, Google research, and so on. Especially, he highly encourages grad students to do research intern in the industry during Ph.D. studies.
