我之所以提到儒家信徒什么的，是因为看到大家义愤填膺的样子，大概是守寡观念已经深入人心了吧？可以类比堕胎问题，美国基督徒看到堕胎现象也义愤填膺，然后他们就去推行司法和立法了。至于婚姻观念，可以参考犹他州摩门教徒的一夫多妻历史，美国各地民俗还是非常多元的。就是说，联邦政府即使在财政和族群政治上的权力已经扩大无数倍，但在民事和司法问题上主要还是各州自己管辖，尤其是司法保守派内部的联邦主义正在兴起，所以你可以把美国各州都看作独立国家。强制另一半守寡当然不是不可能，如果大家都觉得守寡这件事像禁止堕胎一样天经地义的话，自然就会去推行。

其实守寡这种事情，对于人肯定是一种负担，除非是出于宗教原因，比如相信守寡是荣耀上帝。由于寿命和结婚年龄差的存在，这种负担大多数情况下只会落在女性头上。所以看到很多女网友的义愤，只能说be careful what you wish for... 孝顺父母如果还要包括财产权上的义务，那就是个内卷现象（指社会学原义的那个内卷），一个习惯于开拓的群体肯定会觉得把财富留给年轻人投入再生产才对，只有封闭内卷的环境下才会产生老人优先享有财产的观念。

Do better. What would you do if you arrive at your deceased daughter’s house and find a new wife there already, ready to have a new kid? And the man don’t want to buy a spot in the graveyard? Would you trust this person to wire you money every year, when it’s very hard for you to come to this other country for so many reasons? Can’t speak English, don’t have a ton of money, don’t understand all the legal stuff…And the grandkids? You’d leave them with this man and his new wife and a new kid?

What do you expect the parents to do? It’s their one and only daughter… Say goodbye and leave?

And, his kids are confused about their grandparents leaving. You said has kids to take care of?

In the meantime, this guy thinks he’s done enough, which is just ridiculous. Everyone was in a fight or two. We all know how stories can be twisted. That’s how we know what Ning has been doing. Don’t feel sorry for him.
