在dc附近生活了两年多了，觉得louisyoung7911说的还是非常靠谱的，可能就是说话不那么客气而已。对于消费支出来说，买房不买房有娃没娃差距还是非常大的。以前上学的时候一年20k也开开心心的过，当时就不理解为啥那么多人一年100k+还天天抱怨贫困县。工作两年多慢慢明白100k还是动不动就月光了，因为生活水平提高了，要求的东西不一样了。我觉得论坛的应该给大家一个真实的状态，不是给一堆所谓的正能量然后忽悠大家来美国，有的人来了美国不一定混的比国内好。

其实单从白手起家不靠父母支援来说，美国是要快一些。比如攒个首付20w美刀120w人刀，感觉国内要多两三年？不过有了首付有了房子的基础，后面还贷啥的两边差不多吧。而几年后从工资涨幅以及职业的发展来看，国内应该要便利一些，这边华人是有天花板的。所以现在呆在这里就是混个首付出来，钱够了将来国内若有好机会，我想回去，热闹的生活美国是没有的，sigh

囧，对对对，他讲的开销生活状态什么的是靠铺和真实的，但是你觉得这种住着HOUSE开着车养着老婆孩子有零花就是没存款生活状态是负能量？

好吧我澄清一下，我贴那些我原来写的，是以负能量的口吻＋调侃的语气写的。这一点我做得不太好。

至于到底是正能量还是负能量，说实话，每个人是都有不同的看法的。

我那文章还是以提供真实信息和客观实际情况为主，大家阅读时请忽略掉负能量的语气吧～

Let's take an assumption: you are wroking in silicon valley.
So a $10w annual base salaries become 65,000-75,000 after tax and fees.

Bonus depends on industry. Investment bankers get crazy annual pre-tax bonus but engineers get 5%-15% of annual base salaries for end-of-year pre-tax bonus. So that’s roughly around 7,000 for a 100,000 base salary after tax and fees.

One last thing is the free stocks, ranging from several thousand dollars to tens of thousand dollars. Take an average, it’s 10,000 per year before tax and fees.

That goes down to a total of around 84,000 dollars per year minus all taxes, insurance and fees for a compensation package of a base salary of ten thousands. this is around 7000 per month for income.

How much do you spend is totally personal and various hugely. Let's calcualte the mini spending. I use the mini spending just to show you the max saving one can have.

Alert: this is for mini spending and max saving
Assuming you already bought a car.
Monthly:
Gas: around 50 dollars a month
Rent: 900 share a two bed room aprt with someone
other Utility of apartment: 100
Cell phone: use prepaid, literly cost nothing
insurance of car: good driver + cheap car, under 100 dollars, let's say it's 70 dollars
Grocery: 50 dollars. cook yourself, don't dine out, only buy cheap grocery and very very sensitive about pricing.
Cloth and some other stuff: around 10 dollars per month buy cheap things, it's okay for an engineer to wear craps

Summing all the above, around 1200 dollars a month. So the saving is 5300 per month, 63600 per year. Give you some extra for emergency, that is a saving of 63000 per year.

To be honest, it's crazy amazing if you really really want to save money. On the other hand, you can easily spend all of the money away. a personal choice it is.
