The Connected & Automated Mobility (CAM) Lab at Drexel University is seeking 2 full-time Ph.D. students, starting earliest in Fall 2023. Full scholarships will be provided to cover the students' tuition and stipend.
Applicants with a strong background in transportation engineering, computer science, network science, optimization, control theory, computational social science, or a relevant field are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidates are expected to conduct interdisciplinary research to advance both theoretical and technology developments in connected and automated mobility systems. The students will have the opportunity to work on a connected automated vehicle tested consisting of robot cars, full-scale vehicles, and large-scale agent-based simulation housed at the CAM lab
The successful candidates will work with Dr. Zhiwei Chen, who will join Drexel University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering (CAEE). Dr. Chen is expected to also have a courtesy appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Dr. Chen is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of transportation engineering, optimization, data science, and social science, with applications to modular, connected, and automated vehicles, shared mobility, and public transits. His works have been published in top transportation journals, e.g., Transportation Science, Transportation Research Parts A, B, E, Journal of Transport Geography, and so on. Dr. Chen is the recipient of the Best Dissertation Award from the Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA) and the Charley Wotan Memorial - Masters Award from the U.S. Council of University Transportation Centers (CUTC).
