Different states and cities set different rules and regulations regarding the maximum limit on the number of tenants permitted to legally establish residence in an apartment (based on the size of the unit and number of bedrooms and bathrooms). In most places I've been to, a 2bdrm apt can have up to 5 adult occupants.
However, even if this complies with all the legal requirements, you shouldn't move in without asking for the landlord's permission first, because there is usually a clause in the lease about getting landlord approval for any guests who stay over 30 day or even 2 weeks. If you plan to stay long-term, the landlord is very likely to ask you to sign the lease together with your bf such that both of you need to take responsibilities for any obligations under the lease. And some landlord might charge extra rent per additional occupant. Anyway, you definitely should ask the landlord beforehand. |
