Dr. Jin Lu joins the School of Computing at the University of Georgia (UGA) as an Assistant Professor in 2023, with a secondary appointment (courtesy) as adjunct assistant professor at the University of Michigan, Dearborn. Before this appointment, he was affiliated with the Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS) and has explored a broad range of research interests, including machine learning, optimization, and public health informatics.
We now have openings for Ph.D. students interested in Machine Learning, Optimization, Deep Learning and Transparent Machine Learning Models, Biomedical Informatics and Health Informatics, Smart Mobility, as well as High-Performance Algorithms and Engineering Challenges. A multidisciplinary research group is being assembled to tackle these areas, utilizing various methodologies and tools. The research will be particularly focused on the application and optimization of machine learning techniques to understand complex datasets and develop efficient algorithms. Qualified candidates are expected to have a master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in computing or related fields. Students with experience in machine learning, computational coding, optimization, and related fields are strongly encouraged to apply. Graduate students will receive full financial support, a tuition waiver, funds to attend conferences, and supportive mentorship. Interested students are encouraged to contact the Principal Investigator (PI) to determine mutual interest. Please email your curriculum vitae, along with descriptions of research interests to jin.lu@uga.edu with the title “Prospective Ph.D. student”. Further details regarding the application procedure, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and assistantships are available on the School of Computing's website.
