这是犹太人的看法,对于读了旧约的慕道友来说,这更令让我信服。
Did Jesus fulfill the Jewish prophecy?
It’s a fair question! After all, if Jesus fulfilled the various prophecies scattered around the Jewish texts (what you might call the Old Testament, but what we call the Tanach and its associated writings), that would make him the Messiah.
I’ll take three prophecies in particular, as these are of utmost importance in defining the Messianic Age that the Messiah would usher in.
. Waral dи,
Is the world at peace? (Isaiah 2:4)
Have the dead risen from their graves to follow him into Jerusalem? (Isaiah 26:19)
Do all universally know and acknowledge the perfect truth of the One God? (Isaiah 11:9)
What’s that you say? People still fight wars? Dead people are staying very much dead? People are still arguing about religion and the nature of God?
Well, that settles that.
You Christians can believe what you want, more power to you. You can decide that, despite the lack of world peace, lack of mass grave-rising, and lack of universal belief in God, that someone who lived and died two thousand years ago was indeed the Messiah. I know that you believe in the doctrine of a Second Coming, where Jesus will return to finish off those items on his to-do list, but that’s a completely foreign idea to Jews.

There’s nothing whatsoever in Jewish texts about a Second Coming. As far as we are concerned, you get one shot. Jesus had his, he didn’t do the things the Messiah has to do, and then he died. So he must not have been the Messiah.
That makes him no different than the dozens of other pretenders to the title who lived and died before him, during his time, and in the two thousand years since. And there have been a lot! The one difference between Jesus and all those other guys is that (for a variety of complex socio-political reasons) he still has followers who are waiting around for him to show up again to do that pesky Messiah stuff he didn’t get around to doing when he was alive.
But Jews? We’re still waiting for the real one to show up.

When he does, there won’t be any question. You wouldn’t ever need to ask if someone is the Messiah. If he was, you’d know. We’d all know.

Short answer: if you have to ask, then he wasn’t. |
