奥巴马蛮干，第一年有可能多释放80万张额外绿卡!!

I read several articles on this topic, basically, Obama is proposing to change the method how the 140,000 employment-based annual green card cap is counted.

traditionally, US count both the principle applicants and they spouse and children against/towards the cap. but , there is an other way US government they can use: count only principle applicants against the cap, then 140,000 cap represents 1400,000 family, not people. Generally, in average, a family contains 2.7 people. this means, in essense,  the cap increases from 140,000 people to 378,000 people. this will ease, or even eliminate green card backlog immediately. so, consequently, priority date will not be important any more.

more important, this plan needs only President authority, not need to pass the Senate or Representative House. it is legal step/action, even only President gets engaged in this change. this is constitutional President authority/power.

Good news to us.

This proposal is for "employment-based" "family-based" documented immigrants, so called "合法移民"

at this stage, legalization of 11M undocumented is highly unlikely.

关于技术移民，大家这么惨等排期，不要怪民主党，要怪共和党。2011年原本有机会中国技术移民大大缩短排期的，被参议院共和党内部火拼把法案扣死了。冤有头，债有主，别砍错人了.

给非法移民还是 给 合法精英移民的？

还不知给谁呢，但愿对大家有好处

报道的用词有点含糊，又是visa 又是green card的，推测其真正意思和楼主说的应该一致，“可能多发800，000张绿卡”

我觉得到可能大部分给非法的！解决精英移民是第二步政策！

5月底的时候确认还没收到receipt, 但是之后也一直没有任何收到退件的消息，不知道hr还是律师那里卡住了。opt已经延期到明年11月了，不过我们行业内没啥e-verify的公司所以跳槽不容易，现在公司也出了一些问题不知道能不能撑到明年抽h1b。不过走一步看一步啦。。。

希望是给技术移民或者精英移民的，不过按Obama的一贯作风，给非法移民的可能性较大。

奥黑会把美国搞烂的，这么多非法移民过来，不做事，吃低保，这些负担转嫁到中产阶级身上，美国的未来会是什么样子，担忧啊。我有老外朋友去德国工作了，不知道是不是因为觉得美国前途不妙啊...
