确实现在Apple Maps还有些地方不尽如人意，这点也算共识了吧；但是另一方面，这也就意味着更多的机遇，意味着我们所做的事情可以有更大的impact。

简单介绍一下：大多数人都有若干年相关工作经验，statistician职位基本都是PhD，目前我知道的几个manager中有的是从google和twitter过来的，能够直接看到的大boss以前是Amazon search的VP。工作环境还算比较不错吧，manager一般有自己的office，其他人一般两个或者几个人share一个房间，也有的是open environment（有相当reasonable budget可以买个耳机），可升降office table，我能看到的标配是Macbook Pro、Mac Pro、双显示器、iPhone、iPad；福利算是不错的吧，EPP自己25%折扣、亲友15%折扣（数量有限），Apple store 10%折扣，第一年年假12天，不过感恩节一周、圣诞节两周 shutdown，公司附近有gym和wellness center（相当于医院），都不是免费的 但是比较便宜，早餐 午餐自付（豆腐脑、鸡肉粥加香菜，妈妈再也不用担心我的早饭了），至于薪资待遇 看你能力，就我所知范围内还是有竞争力的（最近股票还可以）。有其他问题也可以在下面提。

吐槽一下Apple的内推制度，只有若干categories是有高额bonus的（就是版上某位仁兄积极更新的），我这里放的职位几乎没有任何激励，感觉这和Apple扩张速度相对（Google、Facebook）缓慢也有直接关系；另一方面，或许因为如此，个人觉得Apple也算是更注重内推的公司之一。我放这些职位主要还是希望能够帮忙多快好省地找到合适的人一起为共同的目标努力，基本上我是直接递给hiring manager或者team recruiter，不过面试步骤还是照常。

Summary

We are a cross functional group of statisticians and subject matter experts  tackling a multitude of challenges across Apple Maps. Our group focuses on the algorithmic evaluation of everything from search and recommendations to routing and geocoding across Apple Maps. We work directly with the engineering teams responsible for ranking, recommendation and other algorithms, and tackle every type of problem in statistics, including design of experiments, AB testing, machine learning, importance sampling, hierarchical bayesian models for spelling and synonyms, etc.  

Our goal is to make sure our users’ experience with Apple products keep getting better and better! We are now hiring a talented person to help us accomplish this goal.

So, what will you do?

Define, track, validate, and report relevance Metrics for Map Search, the App Store, iTunes and several recommendation algorithms

Interact with engineering teams to communicate quality, conduct deep-dive analysis, help with A/B tests

Prototype ideas (in R, Python, Java etc) on doing evaluation using users’ feedback data

We’d like you to have

BA, MS or PhD in Statistics or other quantitative field

Solid experience with data analysis in R, S+, or Matlab

Experience with MySQL or other DB

Familiarity with Linux command line and scripting: Python, Bash, etc

Demonstrated ability to work independently

Ability to draw conclusions from data and recommend actions

Excellent written and verbal presentation skills

Experience with A/B tests

It’s even better if you have

Experience with large data sets

Experience with machine learning algorithms

Familiarity with non-relational data frameworks (aka NoSQL, eg. Hive)

Experience with moving algorithms into map-reduce, based on Hadoop, preferably in Java

Familiarity with software development cycle
