The Department of Computational Mathematics, Science and Engineering (CMSE) at Michigan State University has open PhD positions in the Inverse Problems and Imaging Group. CMSE is a newly-established department focusing on the development of fundamental mathematical research that lies at the foundation of data science and applied mathematics, computational mathematics, physical, biological, and engineering. The Inverse Problems and Imaging Group develops foundational mathematical and data science tools that are widely used in imaging sciences. The group employs foundational mathematical theory, machine learning and AI to study imaging problems and design novel image reconstruction approaches for modern medical technologies. Current research directions include
(1) PDE analysis and simulation in the context of inverse problems;
(2) imaging sciences and algorithm design;
(3) statistical parameter estimation and optimization;
(4) Machine learning, AI and quantum computing.
Successful applicants will have opportunities to
(1) be supported as research assistants (RAs) with competitive salary and benefits;
(2) join a growing department with vibrant research atmosphere;
(3) work on cutting-edge interdisciplinary research projects that have both profound scientific impact and broad real-world applications.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Yang (email: yangy5@msu.edu) for details.
