Senior Accountant – Manufacturing & General Accounting
Position Overview:
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Senior Accountant with expertise in both manufacturing cost accounting and general accounting. This role will involve approximately 40% of time dedicated to cost and manufacturing-related accounting tasks, with the remaining 60% focused on general accounting and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment and a solid understanding of overall accounting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Support (40%):

• Analyze and maintain standard costing, ensuring accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory valuations.
• Oversee the accounting of work-in-progress (WIP), raw materials, and finished goods.
• Conduct variance analysis, including production costs, labor efficiency, and material usage, providing insights to operations teams.
• Support inventory management through regular audits and cycle counts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
• Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to optimize manufacturing processes and cost efficiencies.
• Prepare and analyze manufacturing financial reports to support decision-making and process improvements.

General Accounting & Financial Reporting (60%):

• Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries and perform reconciliations for accounts such as cash, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Assist in budget preparation and monthly variance analysis to actual results.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Support and lead financial audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Review and manage fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditures.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.

ERP System Management:

• Serve as the ERP subject matter expert for financial and manufacturing modules.
• Assist in ERP system implementations, upgrades, or customizations to support evolving business needs.
• Train and support cross-functional teams on ERP usage and reporting tools.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 2+ years in cost/manufacturing accounting.
• Proficient in ERP systems, with hands-on experience in manufacturing modules.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work across departments.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with lean manufacturing or process optimization techniques.
• Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance related to manufacturing operations.
