The Language Processing Lab at the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is now inviting applications for Postdoctoral Researchers and Research Assistants to join our interdisciplinary projects on Large Language Models (LLMs) × Linguistics / Psychology / Neuroscience / AI Ethics.
Our research group is jointly led by scholars active in the fields of Natural Language Processing, Linguistics, Cognitive Science, and AI Ethics. We aim to explore the interpretability mechanisms of large language models, the relationship between language and cognition, and conduct theoretical analysis, system development, and experimental studies in these domains. [Lab Introduction] Zhenguang Cai, Professor at CUHK, PI of the Language Processing Lab. He obtained his PhD in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh and was a recipient of the “Future Research Leaders” award from the Economic and Social Research Council (UK). His research focuses on the cognitive mechanisms of language production and the behavioral and interpretability aspects of language models. Zihao Fu, Research Assistant Professor at CUHK. He received his PhD from CUHK and previously conducted research on large language models and natural language processing at the Oxford Internet Institute and the Language Technology Lab at the University of Cambridge. His research interests include fine-tuning of large language models, interpretability analysis, and algorithmic fairness. [Preferred Research Background]
We welcome applicants from diverse academic backgrounds. Preference will be given to those with one or more of the following experiences:
Research experience in Linguistics, Psychology, or Neuroscience;
Research experience with large language models (e.g., GPT, BERT, LLaMA), including model deployment, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and embedding analysis;
Solid research skills in Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Natural Language Processing.
