Position Summary
Walmart is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist with expertise in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to join our team in Reston, VA. You will work on high-impact AI projects that power intelligent decision-making across our global supply chain, customer personalization, inventory optimization, and more.
Responsibilities

Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models to solve complex business problems in retail, supply chain, and customer experience.

Work with structured and unstructured data to build predictive and prescriptive models.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, and operations to deliver end-to-end AI solutions.

Perform data mining, statistical analysis, and deep learning to extract insights from massive datasets.

Translate business challenges into data science problems and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.

Stay current on latest AI/ML research and technologies to propose innovative solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.

3+ years of experience in data science and machine learning.

Proficiency in Python or R; experience with ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn.

Strong background in statistics, data modeling, and algorithm development.

Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS).

Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Hive, Hadoop) is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s or PhD in a quantitative discipline.

Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, or Generative AI.

Experience in the retail or eCommerce domain.

Excellent communication and storytelling skills using data.

Strong knowledge of experimentation (A/B testing), optimization, and time-series forecasting.
