有同学收到Gatech发来一封教你如何陶瓷的邮件么

邮件里面大概是说由于你对我们系某方向有兴趣并且你的背景还凑活，我就给你发个邮件，在最后还教了下如何陶瓷。
也没提到admission的事儿，都不知道该咋回复。有今年或者去年收到类似邮件的同学么？

[size=12.727272033691406px]the faculty in ECE at GT are divided into eleven TIGs.  As you indicated interest in the VLSI Systems and Digital Design TIG, and since your application has been identified as one of the top in our incoming batch, I decided to send you an introductory email to further attract you to Georgia Tech.

[size=12.727272033691406px]The typical way to become a graduate student at Georgia Tech is to take graduate class(es) with the professor whose research interests you, take an 8903 Special Problems course project with that professor for one semester, and attend the professor's research seminars.  Most professors are like this.  They want to see you, work with you, see you in their graduate class(es), and interact with you on a research level.  It is for this reason that I recommend the option of paying your own way for the first year -- if you find a professor with whom to work during that first year, you have a pretty good chance of receiving funding for the rest of your Ph.D.  Of course, this means that you must find your own funding for the first year at Georgia Tech -- ECE does offer some limited support in the form of Teaching Assistantships.  In addition, a limited number of special fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis: these fellowships range from industrial-sponsored fellowships to the prestigious Georgia Tech President's Fellowship.

[size=12.727272033691406px]As for ECE departmental decisions regarding financial aid, that is not up to me.  Regarding faculty who may or may not have funding, you can browse the web pages of faculty at

[size=12.727272033691406px](or, for VLSI and digital design, take a look at faculty web pages for the VLSI Systems and Digital Design Technical Interest Group) and find the faculty whose research area interests you, and then email him or her after reading his or her web pages with some specific research questions/areas of interest.  You may want to mention in your email that you are interested in obtaining a Ph.D. at Georgia Tech.  I recommend that you do not ask about a research assistantship until the end of the letter, and then do so very quickly.  Faculty are overwhelmed by emails asking for research assistantships -- sometimes we simply delete the email right away if it seems that the student is more interested in a research assistantship than our particular research area.  For this reason I recommended the option where you pay your own way for the first year -- then it is clear that you really are interested in the research.

这个教授在之前我有套过，不过没回复我。但是在这封信里面他是以Digital VLSI 的coordinator的title出现的，感觉应该是个官方的邮件。由于Gatech的SOP只给500字，我当时没有写我感兴趣的老师，所以估计这封邮件是问问我感兴趣的老师。这封邮件我也回复了，告诉了他几个我感兴趣的教授和想做的方向。不过依然没有收到回复= =

他没有回复我的邮件，你之前在你的sop里面有提到感兴趣的教授么，如果没有的话我感觉这封邮件主要就是问问咱的interest的

给我发邮件的这个教授我发过陶瓷信的，但是他当时也没回复我。
感觉这个邮件怪怪的，又不是admission又不是那种系统群发的邮件，所以就发到地里问问了。

如果是我这封邮件的话我感觉不能算吧，他们家应该挺selective，感觉过阵子才能出结果，anyway good luck
