我知道大概3个UIUC ECE的本科美国同学都在考虑ucsb和stanford的offer接哪个,都说ucsb的photonics/optical program非常吸引人。
Chiu Yun已经从uiuc走人了。他现在在Texas Analog Center of Excellence@UT Dallas， 据说导致这个学期的ECE的analog ic design课缺instructor而被cancel了

那个日本人不是在UCSB吗？中村什么的？

说起Yun Chiu，我在UIUC的时候上过他的analog ic design，看来那是最后一次他上了... 原来他现在不在UIUC了啊，我一直觉得他是那种自我感觉特别良好的教授，哈哈~~

UIUC联系我的教授是做MRI的，他的group是领域里非常顶尖的，所以就算是钱很少，我还是很希望能够进他的group，再加上我对UIUC非常有感情~

刚才收到了西北教授对于我decline offer的回复，觉得他说得有点道理啊... 其实如果早点问他西北比UIUC好在哪里的话可能会更好地帮助我选择~~

Yes, Northwestern is smaller with smaller class size but I don't think this would take much weight for PhD students since their focus is to perform research with their advisors rather than attending classes. On the other hand, a large department such as ECE@UIUC will grant you more flexibility to  identify your interests and better connections. (Plus, due to its large size and therefore visibility, Illinois may also have a better reputation, but this is only my personal opinion.)

私校确实很吸引人，不愁funding，reputation也超级好。
可惜读到grad school，主要还是看专业强弱、advisor神马的。显然UIUC比NWU牛
