汇报结果，无限纠结， 希望大家给给意见呀！

UCSD是signal方向的，cornell是Meng。本来都打算去UCSD了，今天又收到了Gatech的。到底该怎么选该怎么选啊。。。。。有没有大神给点建议？谢谢啦！

it is a big problem if you stick with pure VLSI.
only a handful of companies including intel still hire VSLI fresh graduate. But most likely they only hire phd students. if you search for VLSI posted positions on linkedin, you will know what I mean.

to put it in a simple way, with your goal, please don't stick with VLSI. Or at least please don't take VLSI as your primary direction.

I take your mean dsp when you say signal. It is better than VLSI but not so much better.
If you are strong in dsp, it is okay for you to purse it. I saw people got into Bose with dsp background.
If not, please seriously think about the risks of getting no jobs after graduations.


Job market is getting tougher than 2013. be careful.

I don't know if you can transfer to cs very easily
assume you can at both schools,
sd is slightly better. But austin is much cheaper. I would go with austin personally.
But if you choose sd, I don't think it's a bad choice.
SD has better local influence, easier for you to build network, easier for local recruitment

Be altered that  in some schools, transferring to CS is very hard. you have to find out yourself.

找工作最重要最重要的就是location。除了MIT Stanford Harvard Yale Princeton这几个这一级别的学校可能全美都认可，剩下大部分公司永远都是更认当地的学校。你想公司如果找inter或者full time的时候能花更小的成本从当地找到满意的学生，为什么还要大老远去外地花更多钱去让学生来面试或者relocation呢

有种被彩蛋砸中的感觉= =因为一直觉得应该没什么希望被录。刚才搜了下说这学校男女比例失衡，难道是为了平衡男女比例所以录了我0 0？ 还有虽说去了就是要努力学习，但自己总觉得自己脑子不是很好使，万一去了学不起走咋办！！
还有心水的加州，，加州，，难道就这样放弃了加州，，加州，，，

you should have listed what direction(s) you want to study.
do you want to do signal?
do you want to switch to cs?
without them, it is impossible to give a good suggestion.

I understand VLSI and dsp are hot in academic, but industry is different.

啊。。是这样。这居然和我了解到的情况不一样。因为早前有听学长说VLSI是EE在美国比较好找工作的一个方向了。。。。
那我还想请问下，如果转CS的话，选校方面有没有什么建议呢？

that is before 2014. Search online and in the forum, a lot of other people talked about this problem.

to put it in a simple way, they hire a lot of new grad in 2013, so hiring is frozen now. for example, qualcomm.

it is okay to choose gt if you worry about cost of living.
