retrospective - DeCordova  displayed a retrospective covering the modern artist's entire career. (vs. prospective study)

temporal ( vs. eternal) most things alive have only a temporal existence.
contemporary - Jesus was contemporary with Roman emperors Augustus and Tiberius.  
extemporaneous (impromptu) I left my notes at home and had to deliver the lecture extemporaneously. What a disaster!
temporize - 拖延时间  Stop temporizing - you have to face the problem sooner or later

chron (tie)
chronicle, chronometer (more accurate than watch or clock)
chronic - hypertension is a chronicle illness, but sometimes can cause acute symptoms.
chronology - here's a chronology of events, from before He Mei was born till today.
anachronism - 穿越 Outside the temple, tourists sometimes dress up in styles contemporary to the origin of the temple, looking ridiculously anachronistic.
