1st ad from UIUC

At this time your admission to our graduate program does not include an offer of financial assistance directly from the department; however based on your record and hiring needs of our faculty, it is very likely that you will transition into a research assistantship. Faculty in our department will be hiring students for research assistantships as they receive funding for the coming academic year. Such an appointment, if you obtain it, would include a monthly stipend, tuition and fee waiver, and health, vision, and dental insurance. You may wish to start contacting potential research advisors in your area of interest. Please note that, although many faculty cannot make financial commitments months ahead of the semester, your admission is guaranteed and is not contingent on concluding arrangements with an advisor now.

接下来到了套RA阶段了。这个very likely不知道是有多大可能。不过MechSE网站上说85%的graduate students have received full sponsorship，套到的希望估计也不是太小。
