9月份发邮件咨询了一些学校的小米，有些学校的小米回的比较详细，贴出来给大家看一下，加入了我的一些理解

自己注册有一段时间了，但频繁来地里是最近的事，申12 fall，11月初已全部申完

上面一段大部分是套话，但是注意小米提GRE的时候没说AW，只提到verbal and quantitative，猜想ISU不怎么看AW

We are not informed of PhD openings as they become avaialable so we encourage you to send an email communication to faculty with whom you have a specific match in research area.  Avoid sending generic emails to all faculty.  If a faculty member is interested in following up on your communication, he or she will do so.  If you do not receive any return communication, we suggest you wait 2-3 weeks before attempting another email communication. Faculty always prefer email communication.  Please understand that the purpose of your communication is simply to 'advertise yourself' rather than to seek a response.

The Graduate Programs Staff do not determine admissions criteria and are not involved in admissions decisions. Your chances of being admitted cannot be determined prior to the Graduate Studies Committee (consisting of faculty) reviewing your completed (entire) application package. Admission is very competitive. However based on our experience we have recommended guidelines for evaluating credentials. These are given below.

The guideline for Grade Point Average (GPA) is a minimum of 3.0 out of a scale of 4.0.

The guideline for the TOEFL score is a minimum of 570 (paper-based) or 230 (computer-based) or 79 (iBT); lower scores than this may require additional information such as a phone interview or suggested English training based on the results of this interview.

The guideline for the GRE score is a minimum of 700 (Quantitative) and 3.5 or 700 (Analytical). Your score in the verbal portion of the GRE (in addition to your TOEFL score) will aid in determining English language proficiency.

Please note that TOEFL and GRE are required of international applicants while the GRE is highly recommended for domestic applicants.

For fall intake, we typically get around 300 applicants to the graduate program (this includes MEng, MS, and PhD).  We typically send out around 45 offers of admission for fall, half of those being offers to the PhD program and the other half split between MEng and MS.  Approximately 75-80% of our PhD offers of admission go to international students with the bulk of those being from Asian countries.  I do not typically track what country students come from, just if they are domestic or international but I took a quick glance at the fall 2011 PhD intake and see that 12 out of the 22 PhD offers sent went to applicants from China.
