PhD降为master的邮件中的信息理解问题

我申请的是PhD,学校寄给我的直接就是master admission, 貌似发信的是研院的主管。请问一下，这样的话，我还可能会得到financial support吗？还是，他只是随口一说而已呢？我也知道美国的master基本上是没有奖的，可还是忍不住问问。
