开一个帖子报一个J1豁免的timeline

想咨询一下楼主申请豁免的理由是怎么写的！有了工作也想申请豁免，但不知道怎么写才合适！盼望你的回复！

楼上的几位有在办理的吗？想了解一下申请理由大家都是怎么写过关的啊！盼望能得到回复！

你好你好！看到了你的关于J1豁免的帖子，我09年最开始来美国的时候是J 1签证，但之后申了F 1签证上的本科和大学，今年抽中H1b并经过了漫长的RFE终于approve 了，现在想10月底回国签证结果DS 160 里有个问题是J1 后是否有回国两年才反应过来原来我没有申请过waiver！！现在整个人都是懵逼的。。。请问回国两年必须是一次性两年吗还是总时间加起来就可以？谢谢！

Hi, thanks for your message. Sorry it's taking me so long to respond you. Work has been really busy. As I mentioned, I had a J1 visa the first year I came to the States, then I went back to China to graduate from my home university, and applied F1 to finish my master's, I had no trouble switching from J1 to F1, and I went back to China the first summer break while I was working my master's, and renewed the F1 visa, again I did not have any problem. The second summer break I did not go back to China and renew my F1 because I was studying for my CPA exam. Then after I graduated with my master's, I applied OPT and used OPT to work from Feb 1, 2016 to Sep 30, 2016. My employer sponsored me H1B and lucky me I was selected and approved, so the change of status happened automatically on Oct 1, 2016. I went back to China on Oct 11, 2016 (sometime around that), then I went to the Consulate for my H1B interview, it was at that time that I was told that I need to either have the waiver or fulfill the 2-year residency requirement before I can be granted the H1B visa. So I applied for the waiver early Nov 2016, and it was finally approved at the end of May 2017. I don't know whether this is of any help or not because I don't quite understand your question. Sorry I can only type English at work.  And somehow I can not send personal message.

I think as long as the total time you stayed in China add up to 2 years will work, but I'm not 100% sure. So you may want to ask someone who knows for sure, or you can go to the official website to find out. For instance, you had a J1 visa then you went back to China and stayed 1.5 years, then came back using a F1 visa, then you went back home multiple times for summer and winter breaks, and that time is counted as well. One thing I learned is don't go out of the country unless your waiver is approved because it's easier for you to send supporting documents, to track the status while you are in the States. Be honest, whatever the reason is just put down. I think I put down that I wanted to get some real work experience.

1.      Copy of every single page of your passport, including the cover page


2.      Copy of DS-2019（IAP-66）

3.      Please explain how the expenses were paid during your study under the J1 visa, if you were paid by yourself or by any other entities

a statement in Chinese and English including the following information:

1. Prior college and/or employer's info in China
2. Resume in Chinese after high school
3. Explanation about how you entered into the J1 program and who paid for it
4. Study status after you entered into the U.S.
5. Explain the reason why a "No Objection Letter" should be issued to you
