PhD openings in Deep learning/machine learning algorithm and hardware

Prof. Bo Yuan is looking for mutiple Ph.D students with full financial support in the City University of New York (CUNY).  Prof. Bo Yuan is affliated to Electrical Engineering Department in CUNY-City College and Computer Science PhD prgoram in CUNY-Graduate Center. He received his B.S and M.S degree from Nanjing University, China, in 2007 and 2010, respectively. He received his Ph.D degree from University of Minnesota, Twin cities in 2015. Prof. Yuan's group is mainly working on the algorithm, hardware and appliction of machine learning, especially on deep learning. His work on deep learning algorithm and architecture have been published in several top machine learning and computer architecture conferences, including ICML, AAAI, MICRO, ASPLOS etc. Accroding to the current need of ongoing projects, there are multiple Ph.D openings in both Computer Science (CS) and Computer/Electrical Enigneering (CE/EE) tracks.

A) Computer Science Track
Required background/skills
    1) Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science or related Science/Engineering (CE, EE, Information Science etc.) fields
    2) Good programming skills (C/C++, Python etc.)
    3) Familiar with at least one deep learning framework (tensorflow, caffe, pytorch etc.)
One of the following skills will be a plus
    1) Good expereince in GPU programming
    2) Strong programming skills (very preferred)
    3) Experience in system-level work
    4) Project or research experience in deep learning

B) Computer/Electrical Enigneering Track
Required background/skills
    1) Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering or related Science/Engineering (CS, Information science etc.) fields
    2) Good programming skills (C/C++, Python, Verilog/VHDL etc.)
    3) Familiar with digital design flow (ASIC or FPGA)
One of the following skills will be a plus
    1) Strong experience in digital design
    2) Project or research experience in machine learning, communication or signal processing
    3) Good mathematics/statistial/optimization background
