I regret to inform you that, after reviewing your application, our Graduate Committee decided not to admit you to the graduate program in materials science and engineering.

Since the faculty has made a commitment to provide financial support to every student we admit to the graduate program, there is a severe limitation on the number of applicants we can accept each year at Michigan State University. The admissions process, therefore, is very competitive. For example, only 27 of the 270 students who applied to our department last year were admitted.
