好像是新i20+老签证，还得重新交 ...

If your student record is terminated, you fall under the five-month rule and you wish to return to the United States as a student, you will need to obtain a new/initial Form I-20, "Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status," with a new SEVIS ID and pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee again. Only if your current student visa is no longer valid, do you possibly also need to apply for and receive a new student visa.

这一段说的好详细啊，终于看见官方的绝对的说法了，开心
所以总结起来就是，只要你的上一段学习毕业结束或者5个月没上学意外结束，你都得重新去active 一个新的SEVIS。然后只要有有效期的VISA 和有效的SEVIS 就可以了。

对的，但我不知道申请新的sevis ID要不要重新交钱

请问下如果离开美国超过5个月了，就应该去重新签证吧？

点进去链接发现是主页，没有看到具体的条款。但是我理解的是因为要active一个新的i20，意味着随之会有一个新的sevis记录，所以是需要交钱的。

我的理解是离开5个月影响的是你的student status，也就是i20和sevis，VISA 跟这个没有关系，所以应该不用吧

我也在纠结这个问题，我是17年5月毕业的，离境超过一年了。去年申请上了研究生并且转了service id到新学校，但是后来由于一些原因没去也没有拿新学校的i-20。新学校的国际部负责人给我发邮件说了把我的i-20completed了并且特意跟我说不要重新办签证要重新拿新的i-20不可以转了，记得交service fee。原文我附上给大家看。大家一起来琢磨一下。Your SEVIS record is completed so you will not be able to transfer it. You will get a new SEVIS record and new SEVIS ID when you get a new I-20 (from whichever school you decide to attend). This is why you will need to repay the SEVIS Fee.

I also should mention that representatives from the Customs and Border Protection (who inspect your documents at the Point of Entry) and Department of Homeland Security have confirmed with schools that a valid visa is valid until it expires, regardless of SEVIS record completion. However, in the past some students have asked their US Consulate/Embassy abroad and were told that they should apply for a new visa. This is not accurate and you do not need to apply for a new visa. I just want you to be aware in case you hear this conflicting information.

不知道是不是我哪里理解有问题。很纠结很纠结。。。。。。。。。

自己更新一下，目前是已经申请新I20，新的SEVIS号，重新约了面签。

“学生在离境之后重返美国
如果学生中断学习离开美国的时间超过五个月以上，将丧失其F-1或M-1签证身份，除非其海外活动与课业相关。出发前，学生们最好事先与学校的指定管理人员沟通，确定其海外活动是否与课业相关。

如果返校学生在入境口岸向美国海关与边境保护局(CBP)边检员出示仍在使用期内的F-1或M-1签证，而事实上其中断学习离开美国的时间已经超过五个月，CBP边检员将以缺乏有效非移民签证为理由拒绝该学生入境。与此同时，CBP还会要求取消其入境申请并注销其签证。因此，为谨慎起见，如果学生离开美国从事非课业相关活动的时间超过五个月，在准备返校之前最好到使/领事馆申请新签证。”

新学校那边iss也和我说我的情况很大程度上要new visa，所以重新签最保险......
