目前在某top50的学校CS博一，老板还算是大牛，但是是放羊，比较失望，想再申请

有充分的时间找实习。实话说你phd期间做的实习应该比你做的科研重要多了，除非你科研做得非常特别。

Hi there,

CS is not my specialty area so I cannot say for sure, but based on my own experience several advantages of working with a famous adviser (like you've said, always too busy to guide students) follows:
1. All of the paper you write, you'll be the first author, which makes a lot of difference especially when you are going to look for academic positions in your future career.
2. Famous profs have strong connections with the industry (this matters a lot). You don't even need to spend a lot of time finding a good job - a recommendation letter from your adviser will take you to the correct place.

Tbh yes it takes much more time for you to conduct research alone. But according to my adviser's word - that's why you are doing your Ph.D... research is supposed to be like that.

请教一下：是指为了PhD毕业去工业界，在这种情况下找实习比做科研重要嘛？

他的课基本都是让博士帮忙上，本人基本都不在美国。在外面有任职，有大量的经费

当初冲着名气跟了，进来结果人都见不到。只能感受到他在两个国家之间频繁来回。不是有时差就是在飞机上。

Thank you so much for your advice. This is also one of the reasons that I choose him as I can conduct research whatever I like. Another worrying thing is that  it may take a lot of time in order to have  clear vision of our field, so I cannot publish as many papers as other students does, which definitely have an impact on finding faculty positions or postdoc jobs.  Just looking at his students' placement and paper they published, I feel that finding a faculty job at the same level of our PhD school is competitive.
